Her favorite flowers were the lilac. She loved the fragrance that they shared. We never had a big garden but we did have a lilac bush. I now have two of them to remind me of her and how much she loved the spring. I always bring a bouquet in the house when they are in season. They give me back, for a few weeks, lots of memories of her. Today is her birthday and if she were still alive she would be turning 95. I would have given her a party. Lilacs would have been the flowers that would have been in her bouquet.

It seems that with each yearthat passes I understand her more, which makes me miss her more. If only times had been different. We all must learn to live with the past as best we can and make peace with ourselves over what could have been. In the end, love always wins.
